Iraqi Christian refugees on edge following earlier mosque battle that divided community

With wounds still fresh from a divisive plan to build a massive mosque in a residential area of Sterling Heights, Michigan, a group of Pakistanis are moving forward with plans for another project, and this one involves the conversion of a church into a house of Islamic worship.

The group held an “open house” last weekend at the former St. Mark Lutheran Church on 16 ½ Mile Road in Sterling Heights. But a group of Christians who attended said it was unlike any open house they’d experienced.

The U.S. Supreme Court issued two rulings today that strike to the heart of the cultural civil war overtaking America. One had to do with abortion, the other with immigration. Both were settled by razor-thin 5-4 margins.

The first ruling gave a victory to pro-life crisis-pregnancy centers that were targeted by a California law. The law in question forced privately funded, pro-life counseling centers to inform their clientele, pregnant women, about taxpayer-funded abortion and contraception services available in their community.

A federal judge has refused to toss out a lawsuit brought by a parent against the Chatham, New Jersey, school district, which showed seventh-graders a pro-Muslim video that included an invitation to convert to the “true faith.”

In denying the school district’s motion to dismiss the case, U.S. District Court Judge Kevin McNulty said the motion was worth only “minimal discussion.”

Ramadan ends at sundown tonight and we can all take a deep breath and thank God for that.

Depending on whose figures you use, somewhere between 600 and just over 850 people have been murdered during the Islamic “holy month.” Scores of others suffered horrific injuries in Ramadan-inspired attacks.

We read in the media that this holy month inspires Islam’s 1.5 billion adherents to pray, fast, self-reflect and become better, more peace-loving Muslims. But the evidence of this introspective goodness fails to convince us infidels who have still not handed over our brains to the PC police.

The enlightened elites have been telling us for 50-plus years that we must separate church and state and scrub all of our institutions – schools, courthouses, halls of government – of any references to God and Christ.

But God appears be to creeping back into these institutions, albeit a god most Americans are just starting to get acquainted with.

If you are paying attention at all, you will notice that the media, our school systems, politicians and even some church leaders, starting with Pope Francis and pastors like the Baptist Rev. Bob Roberts of Dallas, have taken up the cause of defending Islam if not outright promoting it.

When powerful people in our communities start promoting one specific religion, giving it special prominence not afforded to others, it’s time to wake up and ask questions.
