More than 43 worshippers, including 19 women and nine children, were massacred after Islamic terrorists affiliated with the ISIS-aligned Allied Democratic Forces attacked a Catholic church during a prayer vigil early Sunday morning in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
On the morning of July 27th, as many Congolese parishoners were gathered in the church for an all-night prayer vigil, ADF terrorists stormed in and slaughtered dozens of congregants with machetes before burning parts of the church to the ground. Others were kidnapped.
This was according to a report by the U.N. Organization Stabilization Mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, referred to as MONUSCO. The Islamists also looted and burned several homes and businesses in the area of the church.
MONUSCO reports:
“According to official reports, the attack by elements of the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) armed group resulted in the death of at least 43 civilians (19 women, 15 men, and nine children). Most of the victims were reportedly killed with bladed weapons inside a place of worship. Several individuals were abducted. Homes and shops were also set on fire, further worsening an already extremely concerning humanitarian situation in the province.”
Deputy MONUSCO chief Vivian van de Perre said in response to the attack:
“These targeted attacks against (defenseless) civilians, particularly in places of worship, are not only appalling but also in violation of all human rights standards and international humanitarian law.”
Pope Leo XIV expressed his “deep sorrow” for the devastating attack on the church in a July 28 telegram to the archbishop and president of the Congolese Bishops’ Conference.
The telegram read:
“His Holiness Pope Leo XIV learned with dismay and deep sorrow of the attack perpetrated against the Parish of Blessed Anuarite in Komanda, which caused the death of several faithful gathered for worship. May the blood of these martyrs become a seed of peace, reconciliation, fraternity, and love for the Congolese people.”
The Allied Democratic Forces is an Islamist terror organization that formed in Uganda in the 1990s with the goal of overthrowing the Ugandan government and replacing it with an Islamic regime based on Sharia. The ADF has since expanded its attacks into the Congo and became affiliated with ISIS in 2019.
Please pray for the persecuted Christians around the world. They are coming under new attacks every day in Nigeria, Syria, Congo, among other places. They need us to lift them up in their time of trouble.
The corporate media devotes very little coverage to these atrocities against Christians because it doesn’t fit the narrative they promote, that Islam is a “religion of peace.”

Since this article is about the turmoil in Congo, I wish to add some more history to this that is quite relevant to today. I pointed out in my earlier comment that the Congo has long been the target of colonial and later superpower competition. The Congo has suffered numerous civil wars over the decades since its independence in 1960. But there was one man, a Christian (Lutheran) from Sweden, who tried mightily to bring peace to the region and throughout all of Africa, which was in continual crisis as independence movements were overthrowing Western domination and Western efforts to suppress them.
Dag Hammarskjold was the 2nd Secretary-General of the UN, having taken that post in 1953. During his tenure, he led the UN as a strong and passionate moral force for justice and as an opponent of colonialism. He was probably the most outstanding Secretary-General the UN ever had–none since has had his stature. As he was negotiating peace throughout Africa (especially in the Congo), many European and white African leaders made no secret that they wanted him out of the way. Our own CIA director at the time, Allen Dulles, also said Hammarskjold needed to be removed from the scene. I had mentioned in my earlier comment that our CIA plotted the assassination of Congo’s first president, Patrice Lumumba. His country’s new-found independence in 1960 was in desperate need of infrastructure and organization. This was at the height of the Cold War and the Soviets offered their support to Lumumba, while Belgium and white Africans supported the violent secession of the province of Katanga.
I remember him being often discussed as a model of high ideals in grade school during those years, and so the night when CBS TV news flashed his sudden death in September 1961, it was a shock. I remember it well. The plane he was flying in to negotiate in Congo’s civil war had crashed a few miles from Ndola airport, killing all on board, except one American who lived 6 days after, enough to testify what happened on board. It was initially reported as an accident, but much was immediately covered up and so the incident remains to this day a mystery. Nevertheless, investigations continuing to this day and have demonstrated that the plane was either shot down or sabotaged or both. Search and rescue efforts was unaccountably delayed. Many records of UN member states, including CIA documents on the incident, remain heavily redacted or unreleased. Witnesses, being African, were discounted as unreliable.
Hammarskjold is mostly forgotten today by the younger generations, which is a pity. There are numerous documentaries online about his work and his fate that are worth looking at. His work for world peace was outstanding in a time of very high global tensions, and his violent death demonstrates how vicious was the conflict over Africa, which continues to this day. Had he lived, perhaps the history of Africa and of the 3rd world generally would have been much less violent and much more progressive. So this comment is meant as a tribute to his efforts and life.
I think we need to look back at these world leaders of the 50s-60s who pioneered a path to peace—Hammarskjold, JFK, RFK, MLK—all assassinated in the same decade by evil powers, but their vision, which was informed and inspired by Christian principles, is still valid today, perhaps more than ever.

Another IS-CAP (ISIS Central African Province) attack on Christians, this time in Congo, a nation long afflicted by civil war and invasions from Rwanda and Ugandan muslim rebels. The Catholic Church in the Congo is a very major institution, dating from colonial days. 47% of the population is Catholic. In addition to many parishes, it supports the hospitals, schools and charitable organizations throughout the country. The State, very fragile from constant warfare, depends on them very much for some stability. So, if anyone wants to bring down the Congo government, attack its main institution.
Congo is a prime target for competition by Western powers against Eastern powers (especially China) over mining rights. It sits on greater than half the global supply of cobalt (used in electronics). It is considered the richest nation in mineral resources, but the population is dirt poor because of instability and war, lack of development, past merciless and traumatic colonial exploitation under King Leopold of Belgium (memories die hard). The US has been buying Congolese minerals from the Rwanda, which had been stealing them from eastern Congo areas they invaded. Recently the president of Congo entered into negotiations for the US to buy these minerals directly from his government, rather than through the thieving middleman, Rwanda. In exchange, the US would give the Congo government security. It is unknown how this will affect negotiations also going on with a Chinese mining company. Recently, the US brokered a cease fire between Congo and Rwanda, probably to sweeten their own negotiations.
But what about these ISIS affiliates invading from Uganda that attacked this church? Is this really a “religious war” going on? Or is it really some entity using religious terrorism for another purpose? The invaders are part of ISIS worldwide, the famous rent-a-jihadi movement entirely organized, financed and supplied by the CIA, MI6 (and Mossad in Syria). Our black ops has used ISIS to topple Libya in 2011, which remains in a state of chaos. This same ISIS group was then airlifted to Syria to eventually topple Assad in Syria. Al-Jolani’s ISIS gang currently destroy Alawite muslims and Christians there. Syria is now a “failed stated”–failed solely because we destroyed it with our jihadi proxies. ISIS ravaged Iraq, killing Christians and Yazidis and leaving Iraq a mess. ISIS around the globe functions as Western proxies to destabilize regions, violently Balkanizing existing nations, depopulating the region, which allows for the theft of the natural resources by big private corporations. Africa is certainly a very big target for such “development”, as it has been in the 200 years as Western powers competed for it. Russia and China, as BRICS members, have entered this picture and brokered many business agreements with numerous African nations, which Africans find appealing as neither Russia or China has a history of colonial exploitation of their continent as the Western nations do. For instance, before the fall of Libya to ISIS, there had been over 30,000 Chinese oil workers there. After ISIS, they had to flee. The West—US, UK, France particularly—are keen to keep Russia and China out of Africa.
So rather than stampeding in fear over those scary radical muslims again on the rampage against Christians worldwide, ask what’s behind those groups of gangsters who mostly can’t even read the Koran or quote it correctly. Consider this–when the Ottoman empire fell after WWI, the real trend in the Middle East was not towards native-grown Islamic fanaticism (which mostly expended itself in the Sudanese Mahdi revolt in the 1880s-1890s), but towards secularism and anti-colonial nationalism as represented by figures like Gamel Nasser and Kemal Ataturk. The West, since WWI, for its own geo-strategic aims has been the powers generating the jihad movements in the last 100 years. Because the last thing the Western, formerly colonial, powers want are sovereign, independent nations in place of what was once colonies. That’s why our CIA has been heavily involved in the Congo for decades, and were behind the assassination of nationalist Patrice Lumumba, shortly after the Congo declared their independence. There’s “A Heart of Darkness” here. (Read Joseph Conrad) The West keeps Africa under control and poor by keeping it in constant turmoil.

Think of the countless billions which have been poured into the ‘black hole’ over several decades . Here are the figures from the U.S. after cutbacks on previous years.
🇺🇸 U.S. Aid Recipients in 2025 Amount Promised
Sudan $247.9 million
Ethiopia $185.3 million
Somalia $140.2 million
Kenya $128.2 million
Tanzania $103.3 million
Rwanda $99.5 million
South Africa $90.0 million
Mozambique $80.4 million
Egypt $76.7 million
Uganda $60.2 million
And then there is the generous donations from Europe.
Much of the aid money finds it’s way into the hands of terrorists groups.
The Allied Democratic Forces (ADF)— are responsible for the attack on the Christian church. They did not directly receive Western aid, but they have benefited from complex financial networks that include diverted funds and external support.
I think that blaming Islam is missing the point. Islam has it’s faults with extreme groups as does Christianity with with Zionist extremists. There are evil elements in both Christianity and Islam. It’s worth noting that the black community practise female genital mutilation.
“Somalia: Over 99% of women have undergone FGM”
Here are the long term effects of FGM
“Long-Term Physical & Mental Health Effects
Chronic pain and nerve damage
Recurrent urinary tract infections
Menstrual problems due to blocked flow
Infertility from infections or scarring
Painful sex and reduced sexual pleasure
Obstetric complications: prolonged labor, increased risk of C-section, postpartum hemorrhage, and stillbirth
Mental health issues: PTSD, anxiety, depression, and flashbacks”
It’s hard to believe that FGM is performed by women on women.
Such a brutal culture.

Sorry I thought we were talking about the present. So let’s forget about the past atrocities committed by Mohammed and also the so called ‘Christian’ crusades and instead, focus on the present where Zionist’s have murdered 60 thousand Palestinians and counting.
Atrocities on both sides but the Zionists take the biscuit thanks to the support being offered by deluded Christian Zionists in their efforts to build a temple for the antichrist ‘man of sin’ .
Bed time here in the Emerald Isle, so I’ve gotta go .

That falls fully on the shoulders of Hamas. Any nation has a right to protect itself from an attack. Israel has been too patients with it’s hateful neighbors and they’ve had enough. There is no Palestine. The Israelis were good enough to let these people live on an area of Israeli land going so far as removing their own people to accommodate them in the name of peace. There is no peace with Islamists and their fake holy book boldly proclaims so. Get over it, that land is Jewish land.

Leo–In all the years I have been following this site, I have never read one pro-muslim comment by unibokk. Never.
You may be irritated because unibokk had somewhat swerved the conversation on this article. Fair enough. But, with all due respect, it is true that this site does focus on Muslim crimes against Christians, but totally ignores the same crimes against Christians persecuted and killed by Zionists in Palestine—all paid for on our tax dollars. It’s a criminal enterprise going on there and in many places around the world. Israel (that Potemkin village of a nation) is our proxy in the Middle East (as it was for the British), just like ISIS/al-Qaeda/al-Nusra etc is our proxies across Central Asia, Middle East and Africa. Just like the neo-Nazis in Ukraine are. They ALL do our dirty work. They ALL ravage the Christians populations wherever they are found. Over decades, they ALL have killed or cruelly displaced millions of ordinary, traditionalist people—Christians, Muslims, Jews, whatever—who are in the way of the elite’s corrupt geopolitical goals. Our elites—supposedly the bastion of Western Civilization– who engineer all this mayhem are fundamentally anti-Christian, anti-human. They corrupted Christian theology to bolster their proxy Israel. In Western nations, they have steadily weakened the hold of Christianity on all of Western culture and now we’re post-post Christian. They send muslim gangs in part to kill Catholics in Africa because they are deeply conservative (compared to Western Catholics). They then stick us with the bill for all this slaughter and chaos and we are fed a narrative to keep the blood flowing and our consciences wiped clean in our eyes while the blame is put elsewhere. Meanwhile our own nation is severely corrupted and deteriorating in every way because of this travesty: morally, financially, politically, and our reputation as a just and righteous people now lies in the sewer. Our whole culture is becoming slowly Nazified and it’s negatively affecting the entire world. Who is doing all this and why? It’s time to look at the whole picture.

Hello Leo you are always pushing your anti Islam agenda. But you remain silent when it comes to the atrocities being committed by the Zionist regime in Israel and the support of Christian Zionists for such atrocities.
For decades , America has been devastating Muslim countries and then you have the nerve to say that it’s the Muslims who are the threat. You are a prime example of the hard right hijacking Christianity in order to polarise Americans against Muslims.
“Studies often show that Muslim Americans, like other religious communities, tend to have lower involvement in crime. In fact, several reports suggest Muslim communities often report high civic engagement and strong family structures that correlate with lower crime rates.”
But this doesn’t stop the far right from demonising the Muslim community .
The devil is a master of the art of distraction. He plays Christian against Muslim when, in fact, the real threat is Zionism. It is the Zionist agenda that has caused America to be involved in wars in the Middle East, including the war in Iraq which was started by the Americans under false pretences.
It is the Americans who are persecuting the Muslims with no just cause. America is a Zionist puppet.
The Zionist agenda has cost America a lot of money and the lives of many young American soldiers.
But Leo Hohmann has nothing to say about the Zionist cancer which is devouring American foreign policy and also the evangelical church in America. It may as well be Benjamin Netanyahu, occupying the White House, since it is him who determines American foreign policy.
The Zionist agenda is paving the way for the antichrist ‘man of sin’ and so many Christians are supporting this in their deluded euphoria. They salivate at the thought of the genocide of the Palestinian people
Christian Zionists have been ‘radicalised’ by the Zionist machine.
Perhaps you will man up someday and stand against the Zionist threat which is destroying your country.

@ SZ
You rely too much on dispensationalist commentaries, SZ.
Here are the facts.
After Ezekiel’s prophecy the Jewish exiles returned under Zerubbabel, Ezra, and Nehemiah,
Jerusalem was rebuilt, worship was restored, and Jews from surrounding nations i.e., the inhabited world, came back. This matches Ezekiel 36:24, which speaks of God gathering His people and bringing them into their land.
The temple was rebuilt which meant that Israel could once again go to the temple to worship God , who was now present in the temple.
The current Zionist State of Israel, bears no resemblance to Ezekiel 36;24.
The truth is that Christ’s second coming will initiate the destruction of the heavens and this earth as mentioned in Christ’s Olivet discourse.
The third temple, and also the antichrist ‘man of sin’ who will be inhabiting the third temple will be destroyed. Christ will destroy the ‘man of sin’ with the brightness of His coming.
Christ will not dwell on this earth ever again. Instead he will dwell on a new earth which is fit for the glorified Christ and his glorified saints.
Jesus says that “heaven and earth will pass away.”
Peter describes the total destruction of the heavens and this earth in 2nd Peter 3
He then goes on to say ;
“13Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.”
In Revelation we see the new Jerusalem and the new temple which is God himself.
Revelation 21:2–3:
“I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God… And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, ‘Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and He will dwell with them.’”
The new temple will be God himself.
Revelation 21:22–23 adds:
“The Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its temple… and the Lamb is its lamp.”
A true Christian should not be looking for Christ in all his glory to dwell in a Satanic Zionist temple which rejects the finished work of Christ.
Dispensationalists are earthly . They seek a kingdom on this temporary earth which will be ruled over by the antichrist ‘man of sin’ , who will sit in the Satanic third temple, posing as God.
They hate the true Christ and they seek to replace him with their own substitution. They have been deceived already and will most likely embrace the antichrist ‘man of sin’ when God sends a delusion on those who do not have a love for the truth.
Paul refers to this when he refers to the antichrist ‘man of sin’;
“9Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,
10And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.
11And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:
12That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.”
I’ve bothered to post this for the sake of those readers who might be open to the truth. Those, dispensationalists who do not have a love for the truth will continue in their delusion and will suffer the consequences.
So, there it is.

your lengthy interpretation of scripture is just that. My Bible calls the tribulation period “the time of Jacobs trouble.” Which means the Jews must be back in the land given to them as an inheritance forever. The tribulation is a time to bring the Jews to faith in Jesus the Messiah and the Bible clearly states that at its conclusion “all Israel will be saved.” Two thirds will perish but a third He will bring through the fire and refine. The church does not take the place of the Jews. You’re certainly entitled to your opinion but there are still God’s promises to the Jews specifically to be fulfilled and there are numerous prophecies specific to them yet to be fulfilled. They are and will always remain a chosen people to God and there certainly is a thousand year reign of Jesus Christ on the earth after Armageddon when Jesus returns.

SZ. says:
“My Bible calls the tribulation period “the time of Jacobs trouble.” Which means the Jews must be back in the land given to them as an inheritance forever. “
The time of Jacob’s trouble is actually referring to the Babylonian exile. The Jews were subsequently returned to the land .
So, your bible does not call the tribulation period “the time of Jacob’s trouble”. It is your fake commentaries which make this assumption.
Once again ‘dispensationalism’ has take a scripture out of it’s proper context and time frame in order to support the false dispensationalist narrative.
Here’s the verse:
“Alas! for that day is great, so that none is like it: it is even the time of Jacob’s trouble; but he shall be saved out of it.”
This verse makes no reference to the ‘great tribulation’ in Christ’s Olivet discourse, which will, in fact, be a worldwide event and will not be restricted to Israel.
We see similar language used to describe events in Egypt but we don’t assume that it is talking about the ‘great tribulation’
“6And there shall be a great cry throughout all the land of Egypt, such as there was none like it, nor shall be like it any more.“
BTW, I never said that the church takes the place of the Jews . The fact is that the church includes the believing Jews, who are the true Israel, including the apostles who were Jewish Christians.
Paul says that God will turn his attention to Israel after the time of the gentiles is fulfilled. This will be evidenced by a conversion to faith in Jesus Christ where believing Jews will be brought into the church.
But we need to understand that the ‘nation of Israel, is not determined by a patch of land. When God turns his attention back to Israel, it will be the nation of Israel including those Jews who are dispersed around the world.
The eternal promises are to the seed of Abraham which is Christ. The only way to inherit those promises is to be in Christ. There has always been a remnant of true believers in the nation of Israel. Today this remnant is evidenced by their faith in Christ which is why we have Christian Jews.
But the eternal promises cannot be relating to this earth which is only temporary and which will be destroyed at Christ’s coming. The eternal Zion is currently in heaven and is waiting for new heaven’s and a new earth where we will reign with Christ. Revelation states that we will reign forever and ever
“And there shall be no night there; and they need no candle, neither light of the sun; for the Lord God giveth them light: and they shall reign for ever and ever.”
Hebrews 12:22
But ye are come unto mount Sion, and unto the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to an innumerable company of angels,
This is the eternal Zion which is made up of Jews and gentiles in Christ. The earthly Zion which is being set up the Zionist’s will be Satan’s kingdom on this earth. It will be temporary and will be destroyed along with the third Satanic temple and will be replaced by a new earth where Christ will establish his eternal kingdom with his glorified saints.
SZ, you make a lot of claims but you show no scriptures to back your claims.
There is only one verse in the bible which states a millennial reign of Christ. The verse is Revelation 20;4. But this verse makes no mention of Christ dwelling on this earth during that time.
The reason why the rapture happens at the second coming of Christ is because Christ’s coming initiates the destruction of this world. So, even the graves of the deceased saints will be emptied as the destruction of this earth begins to happen.
A Christian’s hope should be built on the eternal promises of God as explained by Christ and his apostles and not on the fantasies of the apostate, John Nelson Darby.
I rest my case.

you can list all the scriptures you want but when you take them out of context to fit your interpretation it doesn’t matter. The time of Jacobs trouble is seven years not 70. Daniel was in Babylon when he received visions of that terrible time and when he reacted with fear and horror he was told this was far in the future. In fact he was told to seal up the book until the end of days. The armies of the world did not meet in the land of Israel during the Babylonian invasion. The time of Jacobs trouble was not Babylon. That time is when the satanic anti christ enters the soon to be built temple and declares himself to be God. You sound very angry and very hateful towards the Jews. You practice replacement theology which I soundly reject.

My experience is that people interpret scriptures according to the interpretations of their favorite preachers and Bible teachers. That may sound cynical but it’s the truth. My philosophy on the hard issues related to interpretation of Bible prophecies is simple. WAIT AND SEE. Whether you or your opponent in this debate have the true interpretation of scripture will be borne out soon enough in the realities that are forthcoming.

Where does the bible say that Jacob’s trouble lasts seven years?
You are quoting from your fictional dispensationalist commentaries again.
BTW it was Jeremiah who mentioned Jacob’s trouble, not Daniel. Jeremiah was not talking about the end times , he was talking about the Babylonian exile.
You need to stop playing games with the scriptures. You are purposely confusing Jeremiah’s prophecy with Daniel’s vision of the end times
I don’t hate Jews . I lived in Israel for ten months and I dined with Jews in their homes.
I hate Zionism which has hijacked Judaism and Christianity and is using both religions to further Satan’s agenda.
I do not practise ‘ replacement theology’ . I practise biblical theology where both Jews and Christians are one in Christ. I have clearly stated that God will turn his attention to the nation of Israel when the time of the gentiles is fulfilled. But the nation of Israel is not defined by a patch of land.
I don’t think that you are even bothered to read my comments properly. You are afraid that the truth will shatter your ‘dispensationalist’ fantasy.

Hello Leo, I don’t rely on preachers. If you read my comments, you can see a reasoning process where I back my statements with quotes from the scriptures. What I find with dispensationalists is that there is no reasoning. They just repeat the same jaded quotes from the ‘dispensationalist’ narrative’. They are unable to think outside of that narrative.
Many Christians define themselves as preterist, futurist, Baptist , Lutheran etc. But once they do this, they have confined themselves to a particular doctrine and cannot read the bible freely and objectively. They are interpreting the bible through a preconceived narrative.
This is the case with dispensationalists .
I only debate with them for the sake of others who may be reading the comments as I’ve stated quite often.
The ‘wait and see’ approach doesn’t work for me because I believe that the church should be actively shining a lamp and exposing the plans of the devil as a warning to others.
There is an urgency now as the great tribulation approaches. I believe that the generation alive today will witness the great tribulation and the reign of the antichrist ‘man of sin’ . Christians need to be prepared, but sadly, many are not , thanks to the lies of dispensationalism which has destroyed their testimony.
I wont argue with SZ. any further. I’ve made my point and will leave it to your readers to form their own conclusions.

I am taking notes from both sides in this debate and waiting to see which turns out to be the correct interpretation of end-times prophecy. But I do find your perspective to at least be based on a thorough analysis of actual scriptural content as opposed to just what some entrenched school of biblical thought happens to teach. We will find out soon enough, possibly in our lifetimes!
